Ferngrove Cottage is located on the outskirts of Crossmichael, a pretty village  approximately 3 miles from Castle Douglas. There is a small Marina in the village offering Boat Hire, a village Inn and a well stocked shop/post office.
Castle Douglas is a thriving 'Food Town' and has many interesting independent retailers, including artisan bakers and award winning butchers ! There are various restaurants, a swimming pool, library and small Art gallery.
The 'Artists Town ' of Kirkcudbright is a short drive, it boasts several Art galleries and the Stewartry Museum. We are about 12 miles from the beautiful Solway Coast,  Kippford and Rockcliffe are known as the Solway Riviera, there are many coastal walks. Activities available on Loch Ken  include Fishing, Paddle boarding , Flyboarding, Kayaking and Jet Ski- ing, the Galloway Activity Centre is about a ten minute drive.
There are numerous Golf Courses, Cycling Routes, Castles, Gardens and walks. The many species of birds make it a popular destination for Bird Watching, we are on the Galloway Kite trail, the Kite feeding station offers excellent photographic opportunities . There are several RSPB reserves, including Ken Dee Marshes and Mersehead. Galloway Forest Park and the Dark Sky Park .
Overall a truly stunning area with plenty to offer.
